Meet the Founder

The man is smiling and wearing a fitness tracker on his left wrist, with blue running shoes. The dog is sitting between his legs, looking at the camera with a calm expression, wearing a collar with a tags and harness.

Arthur (Hu) Wang — KPA Certified Training Partner

I grew up with family dogs, and I've loved them for as long as I can remember. But I came to dog training by an unusual route.

After finishing my bachelor's degree in the UK, I worked as a television producer in Beijing. A lot of the stories I covered involved dogs — and the conflicts they were creating in the community. The more I reported, the more convinced I became that something was going wrong in how people and dogs were living together. I just didn't know what the answer was.

So in 2015 I went looking for it. I moved to the United States to study, and graduated from the Karen Pryor Academy — one of the leading programs in science-backed, positive reinforcement based training. I volunteered with several animal shelters before moving to Canada in 2018, and until recently I taught group classes and ran one-on-one behaviour consultations with a dog training company in Toronto.

Ten years in, the answer I went looking for turns out to be fairly simple: dogs do what works, and when we understand what they're telling us, most problems get smaller. That's what I teach.

I'm now bringing that approach to Markham, working with local dog parents to build the kind of relationship that makes life with a dog genuinely fun.

By the way, the handsome one in the photo is my buddy, Bear.
